It is well in Croydon: Call those things which are not, as though they were.

Over the months of sharing my thoughts through this blog, I have come to reflect deeply on Croydon—a place I hold dear. My love for Croydon is boundless, stemming from its abundant potential, much like a child whose possibilities are limitless. It is not out of criticism that we highlight shortcomings, but rather a desire to foster change. Interestingly, I have found that people engage more and listen when we discuss potential rather than dwell on the negatives. That would make sense as speaking life will resonate with life.

My journey of faith in Christ has taught me the power of our words and beliefs, particularly the biblical principle of calling those things which are not, as though they were (Romans 4:17). This approach to change, which starts with speech and mindset, is exemplified in the scripture where Paul reflects on Abraham's faith: “As it is written: ‘I have made you a father of many nations.’ He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” This illustrates the transformative power of faith, akin to God’s creation of the universe, emphasising simplicity and faith over the complexity and unattainability of the Law.

  • In the context of Croydon, I am choosing to listen to God’s vision. As we embrace God’s expectations, we naturally gravitate toward them. My vision extends to seeing Croydon as a beacon of the true Church, where Christ is the head with growth in ‘lively stones,’ full of power, Love, and sound minds.

  • I foresee a community where there is an increase in the redemption of whole families, a place where darkness cannot comprehend Light. Families will rise up to show the young how to ‘adult,’ sustain relationships, and family life and raise the young.

  • Education and Health systems will operate with wisdom, integrity, and fairness, ensuring that everyone’s educational and health potential is fully realised.

  • In our schools and healthcare facilities, wisdom, integrity, and fairness will prevail, ensuring that everyone’s potential is fully realised.

  • Moreover, I anticipate a united effort from our local leaders to skillfully and honestly address and reverse civic, social, and environmental challenges, ensuring a thriving Croydon.

    Let us come into agreement.

Indeed, it is well in Croydon.
