Parents, don’t leave your Children on ChatGPT Unsupervised.

ree

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has announced plans to relax ChatGPT’s safety restrictions, including the possible introduction of adult-only content for verified users.

His words:

“As part of our ‘treat adult users like adults’ principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.”

Altman is the public face of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, and one of Silicon Valley’s most influential voices shaping how AI meets everyday life. I read his blog and tweets because he knows.

Now, with their next update, OpenAI plans to make ChatGPT more human-like, expressive, and open-ended.

That may sound exciting, but here’s the problem:

When the digital line between human and machine blurs, children won’t always know what’s safe, who to trust, or when to step back. Chat GPT is a known manipulator.

AI isn’t a babysitter. It’s a tool.

And the same algorithms that can educate can also manipulate, hallucinate and as my son would say 'Tweek'.

Supervise your child’s use.

Stay curious about what they’re asking, and what’s answering back.

Now that they have our attention and to some extent our trust; they are talking liberties and risks. Parents and professionals must remain vigilant with this thing.
