Write It Down and Make It Plain: Why Christians Should Not Reject AI Completely

Write it down and make it plain.

That’s what the Lord said to Habakkuk. Not just what to write, but how.Plain.Visible.Accessible.So that even the one running by could still catch the vision.

That is what a print is.That is what a screen is.That is what a digital voice can be.That is what a prompt to AI can become —part of the vision.Made plain.Made shareable.Made ready to run with.

There’s a growing whisper —sometimes a shout —in some Christian spaces:“AI is dangerous.”“AI is deception.”“AI is the devil’s tool.”

But I’ve learned something over the years:we often fear what we do not shape. And we dismiss what we do not understand.

Technology has always walked alongside the Gospel.Paul used the Roman road system to spread the Word.Gutenberg used the printing press to translate the Bible.Radio waves have carried sermons across oceans.Zoom rooms have birthed prayer meetings during lockdown.

Why now would we declare the tool evil before asking what message it might help carry?

AI is not God.But it is not anti-God either. It is a reflection of us — our questions, our design, our voice. It can amplify truth or spread lies.It can serve ego or serve mission.Just like a microphone. Just like a stage.

We must not confuse misuse with mission. We must not confuse fear with discernment.

If AI can help a non-reader hear the Word,If AI can transcribe a prayer for the housebound,If AI can design a flyer for a small church with no media team,If AI can help a young believer write it down and make it plain, isn’t that worth a pause before we call it profane?

AI is a tool for the Gospel. But it’s also a tool for everyday life.It helps us organise. It lightens workloads. It streamlines ideas. It helps mothers, pastors, teachers, and business owners take back time they’ve been stretched to give. It’s not about replacing purpose but releasing pressure.

And like Bezalel in Exodus 31,who was filled with the Spirit and given skill,so too can we be Spirit-led and tool-equipped.

We don’t forsake discernment. We don't surrender to trend. We listen, then build. We pray, then design.

Because even holy things can be crafted with tools.

And what if —this moment in technology is also a moment of provision?

What if AI offers income for those long shut out of systems? What if creativity can become currency? What if digital skills become keys in the hands of the faithful?

“The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the righteous”(Proverbs 13:22)is not just a proverb. It’s a positioning. And this — this window in time —is an opportunity.

To build. To bless. To step forward with wisdom and not shame.

This is not a call to embrace everything. It is a call to consider wisely. To test the spirit behind the tool.To lead, not follow. To shape, not shy away.

Because the gospel has never been only about the method —but about the message.

And if the vision still speaks, even on a screen, even through code, even through a prompt to AI, then let it run.

Let it be plain.
